Looks like we will not have a solution until one of the Kernel Hackers buys one of those Comment on this change optional. See this bug report and these messages to the linux-ide mailing list.

Boot kernel without the patch, confirm controller is unsupported. I am sorry but there is no one on the Ubuntu forums that understands anything about how to compile a kernel, or is too busy to help you.
